Children and young people with (potential) disabilities after starting school

Children and young people with a (potential) disability are entitled to integration assistance. The purpose of integration assistance is to promote full, effective and equal participation in society and to enable an individual lifestyle.

There is a dual responsibility for children and young people with disabilities:

• The public youth welfare organizations (youth welfare offices) are primarily responsible forintegration assistance for young people with a mental disability.
• Integration assistance for children and young people with mental and/or physical disabilities and sensory impairments isprimarily the responsibility of the integration assistance providers in accordance with SGB IX.
