Services for children and young people of school age
In the case of (impending) disabilities in children and young people, the cities and districts are primarily responsible for integration assistance. They are the point of contact for all necessary support services - for example, school support from integration assistants. The decisive factor for determining responsibility - cities and districts for children and young people, regional associations for adults with disabilities - is not a fixed age limit, such as the age of majority, but the duration of schooling.
Services in foster families and facilities "day and night"
As an exception, the LVR may also be responsible in this phase of life: On the one hand, for services for children and young people with (impending) mental and/or physical disabilities in foster families. Secondly, if they are cared for and supported "day and night" in an inpatient facility.
