Integration assistance for children and young people with a mental disability

The public youth welfare authorities - the youth welfare offices - are primarily responsible for integration assistance for children and young people with (impending) mental disabilities in accordance with Section 35a SGB VIII.

Individual advice and help from the youth welfare offices

Integration assistance is intended to alleviate or at best avert the existing impairment and enable participation in society that is as age-appropriate as possible. To this end, the youth welfare office can provide various forms of assistance, depending on the individual needs of the child or young person.

Children or young people and their relatives who would like to find out more about the support options are able to obtain free advice from their local youth welfare office. The specialists there will answer all questions, for example about the procedure, possible assistance and the rights and obligations in the context of an application or the granting of assistance.
