Help with addiction and dependency: Adults

Alcohol, medication, drugs, smartphones, computers, shopping: addiction has many forms and causes.

  • Have you had more to drink than you wanted?
  • Can't get through the day or night without tranquilizers or sleeping pills?
  • Do you smoke too much and for too long?

An initially unproblematic consumption of nicotine, alcohol and medication or a relaxing behavior such as gambling, shopping or chatting can develop unnoticed and gradually into an addiction with considerable consequences for health and well-being.

Addiction is not a weakness of will or character, but a disease that can affect anyone:

  • Do you sometimes think you have an addiction problem?
  • Or a person close to you?
  • And you don't know how you can or should deal with it?

If you are at risk of addiction or suffering from an addiction, addiction counseling centers offer strictly confidential discussions with experts in person or online.

They will listen to your concerns and fears, advise you on problems with addictive substances such as alcohol, nicotine, medication or illegal drugs and on addictive behavior such as gambling, shopping addiction and Internet addiction.

They will work with you to find solutions to your difficulties.

Your first step is important!

Addiction problems can also occur at an advanced age. Substance abuse and addictions are also widespread among older people.

Use of language and integration mediators (SIM)

In many cases, the LVR finances language and integration mediators for people with a refugee or migrant background, not only in its clinics, if their knowledge of German is not yet sufficient.
