Blindness benefit and assistance for people with severe visual impairment

Are you blind or visually impaired and would like to apply for blindness benefit or assistance for severely visually impaired people?

Does the visual acuity of your better eye not exceed two percent? Then you can submit an application for blindness benefit to the LVR. After a positive assessment, you can receive monthly financial support, for example for household help, reading aloud or other aids.

Does your better eye have a visual acuity of less than five percent with corrective lenses? Are you 16 years old or older? And can you provide an ophthalmologist's certificate? Then your visual impairment entitles you to a monthly allowance of 77 euros. The financial assistance is paid regardless of income and assets.
